GAULOISE AMBREE Wins Gold at European Beer Star Award 2009 GAULOISE BRUNE Wins Bronze at European Beer Star Award 2009
Purnode, nov.18th – GAULOISE AMBREE brewed by Brasserie du Bocq SA -Belgium has gained a top place in the world-biggest Beer-Contest, the 2009 European Beer Star Award and was awarded a gold medal in the Belgian Ale category. GAULOISE BRUNE was awarded a bronze medal in the Belgian Dubbel category.
Mr Francis Deraedt, CEO, was pleased to receive the coveted awards during the award ceremony on 18th November in Nürnberg/Bavaria.

"The Gauloise Ambrée is characterised by its fragrance. You will find a varied palette of flavours. It is very easily to drink and refreshing."
Appearance : Amber coloured, bright, fine sparkle, delicate and thick head.
Aroma : A pleasant blend of the aroma of hops and a slight hint of liquorice.
Taste : A pronounced bitterness, mellow and thirst quenching.
Remark : Best when drunk between 5° and 12°C.
"The Gauloise brune: its roasted malt gives it a caramelised taste with hints of caramel, chocolate and spices. It is characterised by its well-balanced flavour."
Appearance : Brown with a dark ruby red tinge, clear, lively with a fine-bubbled, generous, white head.
Aroma : Typical, rich, somewhat estery in flavour (fermentation), hint of coriander, balanced.
Taste : Special malts, full-bodied, balanced, heady fragrance, slightly bitter after-taste.
Remark : Best when drunk between 8° and 12°C.
The European Beer Star Award appraises what consumers are also interested in: colour, smell, foam and taste. The competition that GAULOISE AMBREE entered into a total of 836 beers from 35 countries competed in 41 categories. A 78-strong international body of experts evaluated the beer in a blind tasting taste at the Doemens Brewing Academy in Gräfelfing.
The European Beer Star Award – one of the world's largest beer competitions – honours special and authentic beers with a character of their own, beers that stand out in taste and quality. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded in each category.
The European Beer Star Award was created by the Private Brauereien and the Association of Small and Independent Breweries in Europe, with the purpose of presenting and paying tribute to the unique variety of beers the world over. The competition is aimed at breweries from all over the world, who feel duty-bound to uphold the European brewing tradition.
